Many years ago I was in France and I saw these scary gargoyles. Imagine my surprise, terror and horror when I saw a living one playing tennis!

When I was a brokeassed college student I'd make cheap dates of walking around Boston checking out the hundreds (maybe thousands) of gargoyles on Boston buildings, something many people don't even know exist. In fairness, most are at the tops of buildings far from sightlines. But there are some really cool and creative ones. Wish I had taken pictures of them all because many have been lost to rehab and architects who no longer believe in their spiritual benefits.

Interesting name, Mr. Michelangelo. All roads lead to Rome and I really shouldn't be drawn back to the Vatican with this talk... but since the Vatican and Switzerland are intertwined, I'll leave you with this statue in Bern:

And btw, when you name one of your major cities literally after hell, these kinds of Satanic tunnel openings are bound to happen:

Damn. That ogre goes to the top of the weird statue list. But if you look closely at that obelisk you will notice actual gargoyles at his feet.

Wild.
